This presentation aims to explore the role of large language models (LLMs), as part of generative artificial intelligence, in creative art. The first part of the presentation will focus on large language models as tools that extend human capabilities. The advantages that this approach brings to LLMs will be mentioned. In the second part of the presentation, I will present a view of LLMs as independent creative writers, drawing on the similarities between language models and Barthes‘ concept of the scriptor. I will conclude with the implications and questions raised by this approach. However, whether we approach large language models as a tool or an author, it seems that our understanding of creativity and authorship will need to be modified or redefined in the future to fit the new possibilities that this technology brings.
