Anotace

The Copernican Revolution, initiated by Nicolaus Copernicus‚ heliocentric theory, reshaped both astronomy and the philosophy understanding of science. By placing the Sun at the center, it challenged the geocentric model and redefined humanity’s cosmic role. This shift laid the foundation for modern scientific methods, emphasizing the integration of observation and mathematics.

Thomas Kuhn called it a paradigm shift and not just a techinical improvement but a transformation in the underlying assumptions of science; while Imre Lakatos saw it as a progressive research program, and Paul Feyerabend emphasized thr  methodological pluralism arguing that progress often requires breaking established rules. Influencing thinkers like Descartes and Newton, the revolution led to a mechanistic universe governed by natural laws. Ultimately, the Copernican Revolution illustrates how a radical shift in perspective can drive transformative progress in both science and human understanding.
