Objectivity in the social sciences is an important epistemological criterion. The aim of this lecture is to show where objectivity in the social sciences came from, what principles it works with, and what consequences social science has to deal with due to the demand for objectivity. The lecture will conclude by focusing on what is overlooked in the classical definition of objectivity and what relevance this has for the ontological turn in the social sciences.
