Marxism: yesterday and tomorrow

With the fall of the proto-socialist regimes in 1989, Marxism seemed dead. However, events such as the financial crisis of 2008, the market’s failure to cope with the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the protracted housing crisis have all spurred a renewed interest in this school of thought. This lecture will introduce some of the basic Marxist concepts and explore their possible relevance in addressing today’s political problems.
