Free discussion on the benefits and pitfalls of using social networking

Social networks are now an undeniable part of most of our daily lives. However, I believe that we often use them unconsciously and automatically. Metaphorically speaking, Facebook and other platforms have become a third arm which we manipulate just as intuitively as our other limbs. As ordinary users, we entrust hours of our time, our personal data (and often our most intimate data), and the bulk of our attention to these platforms, but they do not exist in a vacuum, nor are they neutral. They are backed by tech giants such as Meta (owner of FB, IG, etc.) whose interests and motivations are not necessarily, and in my opinion never are, aligned with the needs and interests of the users.
