Trans persons in the Czech Republic are currently forced to undergo a surgical procedure as part of their transition, which leads to the sterilization of the operated person. This medical procedure has its risks, which is one of the reasons why most European countries no longer see it as a mandatory part of gender reassignment. This medical procedure has its risks, which is one of the reasons why most European countries no longer see it as an obligatory part of gender reassignment. Another reason is moral – all the major humanitarian organisations agree that forced sterilisation violates basic human rights. The paper argues that sterilization is still present in the Czech Republic for two reasons. The smaller is a set of arguments that are easily refutable. The bigger one is the passive attitude of Czech politicians towards the issue of LGBTQ+ people.
