By train you can get to Pilsen according to timetables which you can find at idos.cz or cd.cz. The main train station is within walking distance of the city center, but it is possible to use public transport for faster transfer. From the train station you can reach the tram stop Hlavn\u00ed n\u00e1dra\u017e\u00ed through the tunnel (direction city center). From there trams No. 1 (direction Bolevec) and 2 (direction Skvr\u0148any) depart at frequent intervals to the tram stop Hlavn\u00ed po\u0161ta, the post office close to the department.<\/p>\n
By bus:
By bus you can get to Pilsen according to timetables which you can find at idos.cz. The central bus station is within walking distance of the city center, but it is possible to use public transport for faster transfer. From the bus station you can reach the tram stop CAN, Skvr\u0148ansk\u00e1, by going through the tunnel. From there, tram No. 2 (direction Sv\u011btovar) departs at frequent intervals to Sady p\u011btat\u0159ic\u00e1tn\u00edk\u016f which close to the department.<\/p>\n
By car:
For parking in the city center, it is most convenient to use the large parking deck Rycht\u00e1\u0159ka (paid parking see parkingplzen.cz), from where you can walk to the center via Roosevelt Bridge.<\/p>\n
Visitors to Pilsen, who have a Czech mobile phone number, can use SMS tickets for the public transport. This service allows you to choose between a 35-minute, a 65-minute and a 24-hour transfer ticket (20, – \/ 38, – \/ 70, – CZK). More information at pmdp.cz. You can also buy a non-stop ticket from the driver (30,- CZK) or at special terminals in buses and trams that accept all standard credit cards (16,- CZK). University of West Bohemia offers accommodation in its dormitories. It offers rooms with different levels of comfort. However, the dormitories are not situated in the city center making it longer to travel by public transport. Specific information is available here. In the city center, there are several bread and breakfasts such as Pension City, Pension Solni, Pension U Salzmann\u016f, Pension Wallis. For beer lovers and purveyors of Czech cuisine, Na Spilce is a must when in Pilsen. The largest gastropub in all Bohemia, the 550-seat establishment flows over with the aromas of packed potato dumplings, spicy Slavic goulash, and bubbling venison stews. Specialties include more experimental twists on the local cuisine, such as pork cuts doused in Na Splice\u2019s dark-beer sauce. Inside, the decor is every inch the historic brewing house, with vaulted ceilings and copper beer casks.<\/p>\n
Visitors coming fresh from the fascinating exhibitions of the adjoining Brewery Museum will find their way easily into Na Park\u00e1nu. This is a traditional Czech beer joint, which sits nestled between the historic fa\u00e7ades of the 19th-century municipal malt house on the end of pretty Veleslav\u00ednova Street. In the early 2000s, the entire place underwent a massive refurbishment, giving it its current, cozy interior of dark timber panels and vaulted arches. Most people hit Na Park\u00e1nu for the beers, but the food is also great, with a huge range of smoked meats, fresh salads and classic Czech staples to enjoy. Touting a menu that changes daily, and plenty of Pilsner Urquell, U Mansfelda is one of the city\u2019s great gastropubs. The interior oozes a stripped-down charm, with its wood paneled walls and white-washed ceilings. Meanwhile, the bar is done out with all the ubiquitous micro-brewery adornments: from the copper casks to the endless array of beer taps.
